Many moms that return to the workforce after giving birth continue to feed their child breastmilk. It’s a big commitment as a working mom, and we want to take the time to award employers for being supportive of the mother’s choice to do so. Working Moms of Milwaukee is recognizing area employers that are doing an above average job in supporting their working mom employees. If you have an outstanding employer you would like to nominate for above average lactation room accommodations, email

In your email, you should clearly state the organization or business you are nominating and how the lactation room accommodations meet our judging criteria.

Judging criteria involves:

  1. How many lactation rooms are located at the business
  2. Accommodations for mothers to store their milk during the workday
  3. Overall privacy including to/from trips to pumping, what "door" the room opens up into
  4. Ease of washing pump parts at work.
  5. Description as to why you’re nominating your employer of choice 

Additional Notes:

Please do not include photos with your nominee unless you have prior consent from the business to do so. We will be contacting the winning businesses in June to request photos that they can submit or we would be happy to come and take some. Employers are not required to have photos taken or submit them.

Applications | Rules:

You don’t have to be a pumping mom to nominate an employer, and you’re welcome to nominate your own place of employment. Submissions will be judged by a panel of past and present fellow pumping mothers in our network and winners announced in June.


Although we have certainly received information on employers that are sub-par with pumping accommodations for working mothers, it is our hope that by highlighting the positive actions within our community, those employers will be encouraged to join forces in supporting their valuable employees.
