STATE of WISCONSIN
OFFICE of the GOVERNOR
WHEREAS; mothers are breadwinners, innovators, community leaders, advocates, and allies that have, for generations, blazed new paths, opened up new possibilities, and widened circles of opportunity for their children; and
WHEREAS; whether their work is paid or unpaid, and inside or outside of the home, working moms expand economic opportunity by providing career skills, leadership, and creating more sustainable, resilient communities; and
WHEREAS; mothers play an indispensable role in building and transforming our society and culture, moving our state forward, and remaining steadfast in their pursuit of a better and brighter future for their children; and
WHEREAS; this past year, in particular, mothers have faced new and unprecedented challenges, including limited childcare, supporting their kids learning from home, and helping their families navigate and cope with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS; started in 2017, Working Moms of Milwaukee is a community organization that has provided significant leadership in the area of community involvement in our youth and Wisconsin businesses, which is key to the community's well-being and long-term quality of life; and
WHEREAS; today, the state of Wisconsin joins Working Moms of Milwaukee, working mothers throughout our state, and all those who support them in celebrating the indispensable contributions of Wisconsin's working moms;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Tony Evers, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, do hereby proclaim March 12, 2021, as WORKING MOMS DAY throughout the State of Wisconsin and I commend this observance to all our state's residents.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Wisconsin to be affixed. Done at the Capitol in the City of Madison this 17th day of February 2021.
